Tatra mounatins at night by Dunadan-from-Bag-End Tatra mounatins at night by Dunadan-from-Bag-End
Night shot of Tatra mounatins before moon rise. B&W due to high noise level - ISO800 and 30sec shutter speed. You cen see here a series of Granaty Summits ( there are three of the to the right ) and Żółta Turnia summit in the very middle.

You can see two light on the mountain slope - these are two mounatneerers climbing at winter night! crazy guys... once I'd like to try it too ;-)

That's old shot but now I used new Photoshop CS4 to postprocess it.

Simply a long exposure time... nothing special, believe me :) And I want to do it at least one more time, but now - much better... hopefully I'll have a chance...

Yeah it was one year ago, when I visited mountains in winter... I think It's nearly impossible to take such photo in lowlands due to light pollution and thick atmosphere. I plan to go to mountains again this year and I hope I'll take better shots. However I have still the same equipment so I'm afraid I won't get anything better :-/ it would be good to get Sigma 20/1.8 lens at least... but really I'm dreaming of 14/2.8 ( non-fisheye ) but it's just out of my range...

That's why I'm still using kit lens :D :( actually I found out that I need to totally change my whole equipement, because it's already too low for me... 300/4, 14/2.8, 50/1.4, 150/2.8macro and at least A700/C50D/D300 which means somethin around 2000-3000euro :D

I know what do you mean... 4 years ago I started my studies in Warsaw, capital of Poland. Before, I lived in small town - I was very disappointed about Warsaw sky the was NEVER dark! - always lit up by city light... but in mountains... in mountains sky is so different, you're actually closer to the stars! there is less atmosphere, less artificial light source... its fantastic ( this is why astro observatories are placed in mountains ).

(nod) I don't think i could live in a city, since you can't see the stars...

Yes.:D Visible light ones, at any rate.

No... w sumie to byłem w szoku.

sort of, South-East to be precise. Here you can see the summit itself ( [link] - in the very centre of image ) and I took photo from this location: [link] ( again, centre of image shows the place ).
